How to make safe changes to a big Serato library
To change a big Serato library safely, back it up first, make changes while Serato DJ Pro is closed, and use a tool that can undo your changes. Crativity does all three: it backs up your library on a schedule you set, waits while Serato is open, and undoes most changes in one step.
Steps
- Set a backup schedule. Before a big job, choose how often Crativity backs up your Serato library.
- Work while Serato is closed. Quit Serato DJ Pro for a long session of changes. Crativity locks while Serato DJ Pro is open, and opens your library again when Serato quits.
- Fix missing files first. Before you reorganize, deal with tracks whose files have gone missing. Find and relink missing files.
- Change one thing at a time. Make one kind of change, check it, then move on. Undo most changes in one step.
- Restore a backup if you need to. To go back further than undo, or past a change that has no undo, restore a backup. Crativity makes a safety backup before any restore.
Questions
Can Crativity delete my music?
Crativity never deletes your music files. Taking a track out of a crate leaves the file where it is.
How often does Crativity back up my library?
As often as you choose: you set the schedule.
Can I undo every change?
Not every one. Script runs, tag deletes, deleting a smart crate built in Crativity, tag imports and Workspace edits have no undo, so check the Script preview first or restore a backup.
What happens if my drive is disconnected while Crativity is working?
If your library's drive is disconnected, Crativity pauses and opens the library again when you reconnect the drive.
Can AI apps work with my library safely?
AI apps reach your library through Crativity's built-in MCP server, which follows the same safety rules as the app.
